Why is home health care growing?

Family members once shared in caring for relatives who were elderly or had special needs. But faced with such challenges as full-time jobs or living long distances away, many families today need added help with care. And for those family members who are caregivers, it’s vital that they also have “downtime” for themselves.

At Barberry Ridge, our services are designed to fill that “care gap” by becoming a trusted extension of your family. We currently offer companion care and personal care services — and hope in the near future to add skilled nursing, therapies and other in-home medical services to extend both family and medical provider support into the home.

What’s the difference between companion care and personal care?

Companion care is about being present in someone’s life. Barberry Ridge’s companion care staff help with light housekeeping and meal preparation, running errands or caring for pets — but they also play games, read or take walks with those for whom they care.

Our home health aides can provide those services, plus vital hands-on personal care, from bathing and dressing to assistance with toileting and other personal care needs.

Why is Barberry Ridge different?

My grandfather was a small-town family doctor whose patients knew they could rely on him day or night. Inspired by his commitment to improving his patients’ quality of life, we named the company after his farm.

Barberry Ridge serves individuals of all ages, with a special focus on seniors, elderly, and individuals who are mentally or physically challenged.  We can also help you or a family member who needs short-term support to transition home from a hospital, nursing home or rehabilitation facility after surgery, an accident or an illness. Ultimately, our role is to provide the kind of peace of mind, safety, comfort and security everyone wants for those they love.
